Mistakes to avoid when adding AI or a chatbot to your business
Most failed chatbot projects fail for avoidable reasons. Here is what to watch out for before you start.
Starting with the tool, not the problem
Buying an AI product because everyone is talking about it often ends in a tool nobody uses. Begin with a specific problem, such as too many repeated questions, and decide how you will know it is solved.
Letting the bot pretend to be human
Customers trust you more when you are honest. Make it clear they are chatting with an automated assistant and always give an easy way to reach a person.
No plan for what the bot cannot answer
Every bot meets questions it does not know. A good one says so, collects the customer's details and hands over to your team, instead of guessing and risking a wrong answer.
Ignoring privacy and accuracy
Do not feed sensitive customer data into tools without understanding how it is stored and used. Review what the assistant says, especially about prices, policies and anything health, legal or financial.
Launching and forgetting
Your business changes, and so should the bot. Read real conversations regularly, fix wrong or missing answers and update information when prices or timings change. A short monthly review keeps it useful.
A safe way to begin
Start with one channel and one narrow set of questions, test with real customers and keep a person in the loop. Once it proves useful, expand step by step. We can help scope a first version that is small, safe and measurable.
